Nude Art of Dave Levingston

The Nude figure and the landscape are both passionately photographed by Dave Livingston. And even though he does not consider his work to be erotic, his work does have a sensual aspect, mainly coming forth in using a nude woman’s body as a subject in his work.

He basically uses the landscape and the nude in the same manner, a pure focus on form, space and light, a true modernistic artistic approach. But he permits himself to do some storytelling sometimes, like in his Vanitas nude, where icons of death and the apple of temptation are used. He even has a complete series of images with the temptation of Eve as the primary subject.

One of the most impressive images is the one of the nude woman laying on her back in a stream of water, a marvelous image, almost an photographic version of Shakespeare’s Ophelia. Dave Levingston has recently published a book, The figure in Nature, with a collection of his nude art. More information about the book and his work is available at his website.
