The photo series of The Asian Girl has something of a “real life” soap, we all know the scene’s from ‘Big Brother’. The Girl is just standing there nude and doing her thing like taking a shower or sitting in a bath. The expression on her face is sometimes bored, sometimes surprised or just simple as is.

But somehow these images are not as innocent as the first impression wants us to believe. She is totally aware of us voyeurs watching her. The Asian Girl plays with the observer, shows herself to the one watching her and sometimes hides parts of herself. But her face remains as the ever lasting innocence.
The photographer of these photo’s is Akif Hakan Celebi. A photographer from Miami, Florida, who is also involved with TV productions and independent film promotions. Maybe this explains some of the story telling in his photography and the ‘real life’ television kind of atmosphere in his photographic work. Akif Hakan Celebi is also the founder of a rather interesting website called ‘The Subway Project’. A photoblog where people from all over the world are posting photos taken in subways from around the globe. It gives an artistic impression of everyday life in our big city culture. But surely Celebi has a crush for the eastern culture and especially for Japan. The Asian Girl images are the more erotic photos by his hand but he has a large photo gallery on-line with Asia, the East, and Asian Girls particularly, as his primary subject.
