The Erotic art of Paul Banner

His erotic art photography reminds me of the clair obscure paintings from baroque masters, although he personally feels more connected to impressionists and their concept of dynamical light. An interview with the photographer Paul Banner and a nice selection of his work.

How would you personally describe the nature of your art?
My work is dedicated to the feminine body, to immortalize their beauty is my ultimate goal.

What artists, art periods, are an inspiration for your own work? And in what way?
I feel connected to the impressionistic painters, their faith in the visual experience, the effect of the light and the changing colors.

Where are your ideas coming from? Does your work reflect your own erotic fantasies & desires?
My ideas are accidentally born by observing the things around me, like people, objects and places. I extract photographical situations from these observations that are interesting and challenging. And sure, my work reflects my own erotic fantasies.

What you biggest artistic frustration or main struggle in your creation process?
My biggest frustration is time, I would like to dedicate more time to my erotic photography.

Is it easy to find places to display your work (galleries, museums or shows)? Or is erotic art still somewhat taboo in your country?
My work is not yet shown in public in my country, Italy. I did receive various offers to exhibit my work though, so I guess it will not be very problematic.
