Pre Inca erotic art

The Greek and Roman culture produced quite some erotic imaginary on vases, wall frescos and statues, covering the whole sexual arena, from straight to gay. But erotic art was not limited to Europe, in ancient times, the Inca created some heavy sexual art as well.

This movie on YouTube shows a collection of Incan erotic art, mainly ceramic vases called “huacos” from Museo Arqueológico Rafael Larco Herrera, Lima. Many of these “huacos” were found in graves of nobles or religious leaders, the original purpose is not clear. Usage of these vases in religious ceremonies, like fertility rites, seems logical.
