He lives and works in Modena Italy. And not often you see an artist working his way trough so many art disciplines and visual style’s, without getting lost. His work seems to be part of something bigger then the different art objects themselves. They seem to me just a glimpse of the sex world or sexual world that is in the head of the artist.
The visualized world of Lugli has different faces. The Pop-Art style Pin-up paintings with their easy accessible and interpretable images. The poetic erotic photography, which seems almost mystical in a way. And the more conceptual objects. Like the mouth coming trough a zipper or the the penis with ears in a black box. The last one is called ‘I’m the boy’. Well the theme is obvious ;-) and also are the used icons, it’s the combination of the elements and the setting that is making this one more an idea, more a concept. He makes more Pop-Art style three dimensional objects as well. Like the one called ‘White pussy’. I guess no explanation is necessary on that one.
Personally I think the image of the snail sliming his way on a woman’s tongue is a remarkable one. Erotic maybe, disgusting maybe, but it has such a strong dualistic bundled concept, I love it.
