Fetish portraits created by a very talented young photographer Nadya Lev. She has the capability to integrate sensuality and dignity in her female portraits. They somehow remind me of renaissance portraits, the balanced composition, the small gesture and the self-awareness of the portraited person.
The Renaissance feeling
And what’s maybe also a part of this ‘Renaissance feeling’ is the little attributes or clothing that tells us something about the women on display. Nadya Lev is a 22 years old student at the Temple University in Pennsylvania. Originally she is born in Moscow and she moved to America in 1990. A great inspiration to her was her father, Yuri Lev who was also a photographer. Surprisingly her current studies are not in the Arts but in Journalism. This surprises me the more because her work is of such an amazing quality. Not only her thematic’s are worked out very well, also the basics of photography like, light and composition.
Her portfolio contains mostly women’s portraits. Some are best to described as fetish fashion images, and some are more erotic, or sensual portraits like the ones in the gallery. But they all have the typical touch of the photographer, the strange colorful mix of personality, fetish and fashion. Fetish & Fashion by Nadya Lev
