I have seen quite a bunch of techniques and materials used to make art, from junk to paint and from meat to a drawing pencil, but I just discovered a new one, bubblegum! The artist who is making these objects is Jason Kronenwald from Ontario, Canada. And for every portrait all the bubblegum is chewed on by a dedicated team of chewers.
The colors are the original colors of the gum, no pigments are used otherwise, he also has a favoured one, Trident Chewing gum. When he wants a color nuance not available in the original package he just mixes the brands by chewing on them together until the right nuance is created.
The works that are finished are available on his website Gumblondes with, as you can imagine, blonde women. Mostly celebrities, like Marilyn Monroe, but there is chewed on other women as well. I’m not sure if these works of art will stand the test of time in the long run, they are really nice images. So if you like your celebrity chewed & tasty be sure to check out the website of Jason Kronewald.
