The work of Dan Olek is quite an exploration; nudes used in an erotic and in a more formal context are standing equally side by side. Sometimes his concepts are simple, a nude women walking up the stars or a woman photographed lying on a bed. However, in most of his work, he is searching for meaning or he tries to visualize a small story.
Dan Olek is not afraid to use the digital toolbox in his work, the lovely nude angel in front of white clouds is one of these manipulated images. But even without digital manipulation a lot of his work has a strange, even surreal atmosphere.
My personal favourites are the ‘Hidden’ series where two women are covered in transparent silk cloth, softly touching each other and the photograph ‘Reaching’, a photomontage of a woman reaching for breasts.
