The exploration of this female photographer into her own psyche, her own appearance and ultimately in her sexuality is an intriguing journey. Her female photography is different, and the fact that Jaeda DeWalt is both the photographer and the model at the same time explains just a part of it.
It’s also her subtile and tender approach, typically feminine? I don’t know. This is just to easy and generalizing, but I must admit it’s one of my first thoughts seeking an explanation for her very personal style. Her work is just always challenging me, it brings up questions and here I am looking for answers, or maybe finding excuses or reasons. You wonder why I can’t just enjoy these beautiful images she is giving us?
Maybe its because I worked on self-portraits for about a year at the Art academy myself and I can assure you there isn’t a better way to learn about yourself. There is nothing as confronting as using your own face and body to communicate your ideas to the public, it’s so direct and sometimes even confusing. So maybe I look at the work of Jaeda DeWalt to much from my own perspective, but on the other hand I can hardly imagine that she does not have the same experiences in her creation process. Her female photography has been featured on the Art of Love before, but she has just finished some series where she is not the only person on display anymore. In these duo portraits, or couple portraits, you see Jaeda and her boyfriend loving each other. The style remains just as elegant and worthy as always, but with an increasing erotic, or should I say sensual, nature.
