An erotic art initiative from Switzerland, combining real life exhibitions and an erotic art web museum called Porno in Art. They ask themselves the following question: “is it art or pornography? Does one exclude the other or can both terms be lustfully combined?” Well, I would answer this question with a big yes, we feature art on our own site that shows that there doesn’t have to be a difference, art can be porn, and vise versa. In my opinion lust, sex, erotica and art can’t be separated, they have always been complementing each other and they always will.
I love it when people are joining my quest celebrating the beauty of human sexual expression and so I checked the museum, only online. Maybe one day when I’m travelling through Switzerland I have the opportunity of visiting them.
When I first entered this virtual museum, I did not really know what to think, or where to start. I was expecting some sort of art images galleries where the works are presented and accessible. They use a rather unusual presentation, movies in a Quicktime Panorama 360° format to show their exhibitions. In my opinion this is not the best way to present art on the web, it’s kind a hard to really focus on an individual artwork, and the surroundings are rather disturbing my viewing experience. I would recommend them to search for a different way to display their erotic art. Because that’s the main reason of mentioning them on the Art of Love, the erotic art they feature is diverse, engaging and of an excellent quality.
The place they use for their exhibitions is a wine tasting “stube” called Edi’s Weinstube, Bacchus would smile about this combination of porn, art and wine :-) Thanks Zoe for the beautiful artworks in the gallery!
