Sexy Girls kissing, a girl posing in lingerie or two girls engaged in a little lighthearted play. The artist Alexander Braun made a tribute to sexy women in his project “Sexy Pink”. The girls in his work do the things girls like to do, well at least from a man’s point of view ;-)
In most of his paintings the figures are reproduced in just a view contrasting lines on a solid background, but sometimes he also uses some kind of wallpaper to paint on. His painting style looks a lot like vector basted drawings made on a computer, but the images get a certain vitality trough the usage of real paint. Vector drawings always have that dead feeling, a good choice to translate the vector effect to canvas and paint.
The work of Alexander Braun is in my opinion divided in two directions. The representation one, like the one with two sexy girls kissing in pink, and the more complex ones where the subject gets nearly unrecognizable. In these complex paintings the paint, shape and linearity take over the representation and they become the subject themselves.
Alaxander Braun is from origin a graphic designer and the graphical, linear approach will be something he knows from his background. The two directions I mentioned earlier are looking like a process to brake free from this background en to explore new artistic borders. The Sexy Girls in Pink series are already interesting, sensual paintings and I am looking forward following his future development.
