The Erotic Photography of Tracy Lee

I like to think of the erotic photography of Tracy Lee as a visual diary, or a photographic sketchbook. She throws up all kinds of ideas, erotic concepts, from ‘landscape nudes’ to body painted, nearly surrealistic, self portraits. She plays with her subject, it’s composition and the light, resulting in a wide array of images, where she is both the photographer and the model.

Although her subject is an ongoing search, or evolving experiment, her technical approach is more fixed. Her style is rather clean, maybe even traditional, with a sharp contrast between the model and the background. It’s not criticism from my part, but more something that’s quite remarkable, when you look at her ‘open’ thematical approach.

This close-up shows the body nearly as a landscape, highly erotic photography by Tracy Lee.
My favorite images are definitely her surrealistic self-portraits, the black and white body paint and the heavy deformations, are giving these images a unique atmosphere. Her close-ups, like the one that shows just a glimpse of pubic hair, are also intriguing and highly erotic. In this image, the body becomes a landscape, and the light is softly touching the female form.

I often get the question if there is a difference, in erotic photography, between male and female photographers and I think it’s impossible to give a general answer on that question. Nevertheless, when I look at the images of Tracy Lee you could conclude that female photographers have a more sensitive, subtle view on what’s erotic, or sensual.
